How We Work – Gambling Recovery Hub
How We Work

No Pressure. No Agenda. Just Honest Support.

We guide — we don’t push. Here’s what it actually looks like to work with the Gambling Recovery Hub.

Peer-led. Non-clinical. Built around you.

The Gambling Recovery Hub isn’t a clinical service and we’re not here to diagnose you or tell you what to do. We’re a peer-led community — meaning everything is shaped by people who have been through addiction and recovery themselves. That changes how we listen, how we respond, and what we focus on.

We don’t have a fixed programme you have to follow. We don’t have targets to hit or boxes to tick. What we do have is experience, honesty, and a genuine commitment to helping you figure out what you need — and then helping you get there.

“We’re not the solution to your gambling. We’re the people who help you find yours.”

What engaging with the Hub actually looks like.

There’s no formal intake process or waiting list. You can start wherever makes sense for you. But for most people, it tends to look something like this.

1

You arrive — however you arrive

Maybe you’ve been thinking about it for a while. Maybe something happened today that made you search for help. Maybe a friend or family member pointed you here. However you found us, you’re welcome. You don’t need to have it figured out. You don’t even need to be sure you have a problem yet.

2

You look around at your own pace

Browse the articles, read through the self-assessment guides, or explore the resource library. There’s no pressure to register, no one chasing you. A lot of people spend time here quietly before they reach out — and that’s completely fine.

3

You reach out when you’re ready

When you’re ready to connect — whether that’s sending a message, joining the forum, or dropping into a group session — we’ll be here. There’s no script, no form to fill in, no questions you have to answer before we’ll talk to you.

4

We listen, and we’re honest

We’ll take the time to understand your situation properly. We ask questions because we want to help, not to judge. And we tell you the truth — about what we think, about your options, and about what recovery can realistically look like. We don’t make promises we can’t keep.

5

We help you work out next steps

Depending on where you are, that might mean signposting you to treatment, helping you access financial support, connecting you with a group, or simply giving you a framework to start thinking differently. We match support to where you actually are — not where we’d like you to be.

6

You keep going, and we keep showing up

Recovery isn’t a single moment — it’s a process. The Hub is here for the long term. Whether you’re in the thick of early recovery or years down the line and looking for ongoing community, there’s a place for you here.

The things we never compromise on.

Confidentiality

Everything you share with us stays with us. This is a safe space and we treat it as one. We will never share your information without your knowledge and consent.

No Judgement

Whatever you’ve done, whatever you’ve lost, whatever you’re ashamed of — none of that changes how we treat you. Shame is part of the problem. We don’t add to it.

Your Pace

We work with you at the speed that’s right for you. There’s no timeline you have to stick to, no milestones you have to hit. Recovery takes the time it takes.

Honesty

We’ll always be straight with you — even when it’s not what you want to hear. Real support means honest conversations, and we’re experienced enough to have them with care.

Lived Experience

The people you speak to have been through addiction personally. That’s not just a background detail — it shapes everything about how we listen and what we understand.

No Agenda

We don’t benefit from keeping you dependent on us. Our goal is to help you get to a place where you don’t need us — and to connect you with the right professional support when that’s what’s needed.

An important note: The Gambling Recovery Hub is a peer support and guidance service. We are not a clinical or medical provider, and we’re not a replacement for professional treatment. If you need residential rehab, structured therapy, or medical support, we’ll help you understand and access those services — we just won’t pretend to be them.

There’s no right time. There’s just now.

You don’t need to have the right words or know exactly what you want. Just reach out — we’ll take it from there.
